The building exterior skin is an insulated low-E glass and aluminum curtain wall system with precast architectural concrete and granite accents. The building structure is cast-in-place pan framing with a full mat foundation. |
| Lobby: |
The lobby, with a main entry on McKinney, offers a welcoming introduction to the building. The wide concourse on McKinney has a wide open area with brushed stainless steel columns and accents. The main lobby extends from the open concourse to a grey granite and white marble 3rd level lobby. Imported stone was used for both the durability and its beauty, with materials from Italy, China and Canada being used throughout. African Mahogany was used to add traditional warmth and appeal to the accenting wood panels that adorn the 1st and 3rd level lobbies. |

| HVAC: |
The cooling system is a chilled water system serving an air handler unit per floor with multiple zone VAV (variable air volume) units located on each floor. Heating is supplied by electrical duct mounted units in VAV units and the outside supply air unit. An energy management system controls the building Central Plant and the HVAC components. |
| Parking: |
An eight (8) level attached garage, which is clad in the same pre-cast architectural material as the building, with 1,237 parking spaces. The entries and exits have toll road and access card readers along with roll down security gates. Of the total spaces, approximately 520 spaces are integrated into the building from levels 8 down to the basement level (B1). |

5 Houston Center has two separate elevator banks. The elevator banks consist of six (6) high rise passenger elevator cabs and six (6) low-rise passenger elevator cabs. The freight elevator is adjacent to the street level loading dock, which serves all office levels. A separate bank of three (3) elevators provide access to the 1st and 3rd lobby levels of the building as well as the parking garage floors. |
